Privacy Policy

The short version: your study data exists so you can study. We don't sell it, we don't run ads, and we ask permission before sharing it with AI providers. Settings includes a study-data export, account deletion, and control over AI sharing.
1. Who we are
Wanadel is a study app for students, on iPhone and on the web at wanadel.com. The service is operated by Recallry LLC.

2. What this covers
This policy covers the Wanadel app and the wanadel.com website. It doesn't cover other sites we link to. We are preparing for a US launch, and this policy is written for a US audience.
3. What we collect
Your account. Your email, your password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider, Supabase — we never see the real thing), your display name, and optional details you choose to add, like your school, grade, and preferences.
Your study content. The flashcards, notes, study guides, files, and voice transcripts you create or upload. This is the product — it exists so you can study from it. That includes things you post in study groups, which other group members can see.
Connections you add. If you connect Google Calendar, we store a read-only access token on our servers and pull data only when you ask us to. Same for Canvas: your token stays server-side and we fetch your courses only on your request. Both are optional and you can disconnect them anytime.
Focus places. If you enable place reminders, your phone uses location permissions to detect arrival. Place coordinates stay in account-specific storage on that device; place names and preferences can be stored with your account. Turn off reminders or remove a place in the app, or revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
Device drafts and notifications. Unfinished recordings and study drafts may remain on your device so you can recover them. Notifications may contain study or place names and can appear on your lock screen. You control notification permissions.
Usage. We store first-party feature events linked to your account, study activity, progress, app version, and platform to operate the service, understand reliability and usage, and enforce request limits. If you choose to allow optional analytics, we also send PostHog a narrow anonymous event list: feature signals, a normalized screen category, platform, environment, release, and redacted error type. It does not receive your account identity, email, name, study content, replay, raw URL, query string, hash, or route identifier. We do not use advertising trackers.
4. How we use it
- To run the product: sync your content, schedule your reviews, show your progress.
- To power the AI features (see the next section).
- To meter usage so free limits are fair.
- To keep the service safe and working.
- With your choice, to understand anonymous product use and failures.
- That's the list. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for ads — there are no ads.
5. AI features
When you use the AI, your prompts and the study content they need are sent to our AI providers: Anthropic for answers and feedback, Voyage AI for study search, and Deepgram for transcription or spoken replies. Requests may include relevant notes, documents, images, audio, study activity, and planning preferences.
We ask for your permission before sending content to these AI providers. You can decline and use manual study tools, or withdraw permission in Settings. Withdrawal stops new AI requests; it does not recall an earlier request. Provider handling and retention follow the applicable service agreements and privacy terms. We do not use your content for ads.
One ask from us: don't paste other people's personal information into the AI. It doesn't need it, and they didn't agree to it.
6. Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase on servers in the United States.
8. What's public
- Discover. Publishing a set to the public Discover catalog is opt-in. You give explicit consent and acknowledge exactly what will be shown (including your name and school) before anything goes public. You can unpublish anytime.
- Groups. Anything you post in a study group is visible to that group's members.
- Shared guides. A shared guide link works for anyone who has it. The links are unlisted and kept out of search engines.
9. Your controls
These all exist in the product today:
- Export your study data — Settings → Export my data downloads JSON records and links to your uploaded files. File links expire after one hour. The export excludes credentials, internal security records, and other people's private work.
- Delete your account — Settings → Delete Account removes the account, associated study records, and private uploads when the operation succeeds. If it fails, the app tells you and you can retry. Download any records you want to keep first.
- Control AI sharing and memory — withdraw AI sharing in Settings; pause or delete saved memories on the Memory page.
- Control optional anonymous analytics — choose Allow or No thanks on the web prompt or change it on Privacy Choices.
- Unpublish any set you put on Discover.
- Disconnect Google or Canvas anytime.
10. Children
Wanadel is for people 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you're under 18, get a parent or guardian's permission before signing up. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us through our contact form and we'll remove it.
11. California rights
If you live in California, you can ask us what data we have about you, ask us to delete it, and know that we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising — so there's nothing to opt out of. The in-app export and delete controls in section 9 cover most of this without needing to contact anyone. For anything else, see Your Privacy Choices or use our contact form. We'll never treat you differently for using these rights.
12. Data retention
We retain account and study records while your account exists, unless you remove them earlier. Successful account deletion removes them from the active app database and private file storage. Limited provider logs, backups, security records, and records required by law may remain under their retention rules. Copies other people previously downloaded are outside our control. For a specific removal request or retention details, use our contact form.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here. If the change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
14. Support requests
If you contact us through the support form, we collect the topic you choose, your message, an optional name and affected page, and the reply email you provide, so we can review and respond to the request. These requests are stored in a private support queue readable only by Recallry LLC administrators. A request stays in that queue while it is open; a daily cleanup deletes resolved requests once they are 90 days old. The form's anti-abuse rate counters store only short-lived rotating hashed digests — never your raw IP address — and the same daily cleanup removes them once they are 48 hours old.
